Antonio Madrazo
Artist Antonio Madrazo’s, Cielito Lindo studio is nestled into a small neighborhood in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. He works with tin nichos to create the highest quality, hand painted, hilarious depictions of real life. He uses themes of spirituality, love, life and death and frequently uses Day of the Dead or lotería images. Antonio’s sense of humor is deeply rooted in Mexican folklore and culture. He makes fun of and embraces the simplicities of everyday life. Titles of his work include things like “Hell is not Hell” where a layer of earth separates a graveyard from the fiesta below; or “Seguro Espiritual” where 7 saints offer assurance to help with things in life (love, travel, health, etc.). Antonio’s work is like no other. Many copies of nichos exist, but his work is of the highest quality and is collected worldwide. One of his most well known installations is at Disney’s Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida.
